Cleanse Yourself this Memorial Day Weekend!

Sometimes our lives can become so frantic and busy, we end up feeling drained at the end of the day or week. Oftentimes we are around so many people, absorbing and mixing with so many energies that our bodies and Soul have a hard time blocking things out. And blocking energies out is actually a good thing to do, because if you mix with someone's energy that doesn't match your own vibration it will leave you feeling weakened, drained, angry, resentful, pouty, and all around negative. And you don't want or need that in your life. There is no reason to feel that way.

If, however, you do end up feeling like that and you can't explain how or why you got that way, there is something (or some things!) you can do:

1) Surround yourself with water.

Water is a fairly emotional element, however it is amazingly clearing and cleansing, and most especially, if it is sea or ocean water. Just being in that beach atmosphere will help remove the negative ions within your energy field, leaving your aura cleansed, renewed, and rejuvenated. If you are unable to get to the beach this weekend then I suggest you simply walk around barefoot in your yard, and then drink plenty of water. The Earth's energy acts as a conduit sending your waves of negative energy way down into the ground. It absorbs it for you so that you don't have to absorb it any longer. And I had mentioned the whole drinking water thing, because even ingesting it will help to flush out negative impurities within your system. Lastly, take a salt bath. Bathing with bath or Epsom salts have been proven to help heal and relax joints and muscles while simultaneously clear your energy.

2) Get a Reiki treatment.

Reiki is energy healing. I, the practitioner, gently place my hands on you and direct positive and healing energy into your aura. It will remove the negative stuff and leave you feeling light and refreshed. Reiki also helps people to gain clarity, and that is something that can get muddled or clouded when feeling "down in the dumps." It's been around for thousands of years and has been proven to be quite effective. If a Reiki treatment is something you are interested in, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Why Does Neck and Shoulder Tension Cause Headaches?

I get asked that question a good amount of the time. Or, I will tell my clients that neck and shoulder tension may be the cause of their headaches. It's, of course, all in how you word it. As a licensed massage therapist it is out of my scope of practice to diagnose anyone for anything. There are times when neck and shoulder tension do not cause headaches. But for those times that do cause it, here is why:

Tension is defined as the act of stretching or straining, being stretched or strained, suspense, or pressure.

If you were to look at the muscles of the shoulders and neck, you will find these names: scalenes, trapezius, rhomboids, and levator scapulae. And when even one of those muscles (or sets of muscles) are strained, or stretched, or has too much pressure and suspense within its fibers, it will push and/or pull at the other muscles surrounding it.

For example, if you feel a lot of tension or tightness in your trapezius muscles, it will pull at your scalenes. Your scalenes are the small bands of muscles that run along your cervical spine - it connects at the base of the skull and down to the trapezius muscles as the top of your shoulders. And once that pulling starts, it creates even more tension up at the base of the skull, putting pressure on your head. As the pressure increases so does your pain. And oftentimes, pain in the head turns into headaches, and if it gets bad enough, migraines.

Another example: Say you have a knot (an adhesion) within the fibers of your rhomboids. (Your rhomboids are located in the upper shoulder quadrant connecting your scapulae to your spine). That knot may be sitting on a trigger point. If a trigger point is pressured enough, the receptors and synapses are going to shoot the pain up into your neck and into your cranium. Also, that knot could be big enough that it does, in fact, also pull at the trapezius muscles which will then pull at the scalenes which will then pull at your head. It can be a never-ending, vicious cycle if you don't get them worked on enough, or maintain optimal health and well being.

So, how do you maintain optimal health and well being? Well, there is having
good diet, exercise, stretching properly, good posture, learning to deal with stress so it actually doesn't affect you, and massage therapy. Once the muscles can relax the tension disappears. And if they're relaxed enough, that tension won't come back.

     It's a beautiful thing, really. :)

Healing with the Angels deck: Abundance

Picked the perfect card for today! Abundance!! Graciously receive all that this Universe has to offer and be sure to show gratitude for it! Thank you, Universe!

This card means that a new flow of support is coming to you right now. Ask the Angels to help you release fears about scarcity so that you can enjoy this increased abundance.

"Your messenger angels announce the arrival of an inflow of abundance coming your way. The source of all abundance is God, and you at some level had faith that the Creator would supply your needs. Your faith, even if it was small, triggered the abundance that is manifesting for your right now.

Keep your faith, as it will ensure a steady flow of support materially, psychologically, emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually. A wonderful affirmation to help you stay in the stream of a steady flow of abundance is: 'I accept good graciously into my life. All of my needs are met abundantly for me now and always.'"

The Psychic Tarot: Intuition

Most days I will come into the office and shuffle an oracle deck. I like it when a card falls out. To me, it's a message the Universe really wants me to see. This is what fell out as I was shuffling this morning. It is from John Holland's The Psychic Tarot deck.

"Intuition is the language of the soul. When this card shows up in a reading, it's a clear message that it's time for you to use your intuition. Just give it a chance and you'll quickly notice how it might be trying to get your attention. With so much information in this world vying for your every thought, it's easy to ignore or fail to acknowledge your insights.

Synchronicities and so-called coincidences are powerful signs that intuition is knocking on your door. Have you heard a phrase or saying repeated by more than one person today? Do the same numbers keep showing up in your life? Has someone mentioned the name of a specific individual whom you were just thinking of? These are all signals for you to pause, be open, and pay attention.

This is a perfect time to seek the answers from within. Turn inward, where you'll find the solutions and valuable insights that are waiting to assist you. When you learn to use and trust your intuition, you'll begin to have a sense of not only the right timing, but you'll also begin to perceive people and situations with a deeper and more discerning eye. You'll not only observe beneath and beyond what's actually in front of you -- you'll see the real deal!"

This is perfect for me. Sometimes I have a hard time trusting my own intuition. But I know I am powerful and that whatever I think about I manifest rather rapidly. Thank you, Universe, for showing me it's okay to trust everything I am spiritually receiving!
